Cargo Insurance for International Delivery

When ordering the "Cargo Insurance" service, we assume responsibility for the integrity and safety of your shipment from the moment we receive it until the moment it is handed over to the recipient.

Upon receiving the cargo, we perform its external inspection. If the cargo arrives to us via a courier service — ensure in advance that the chosen service allows inspection of the contents upon handover. Without the possibility of inspection, we will not be able to accept the cargo under insurance liability.

Insurance Terms

1. Insurance coverage period: insurance coverage is valid from the moment the cargo is officially accepted by our company and until it is handed over to the recipient. If after crossing the border the cargo is transferred to a third-party courier service for further delivery, our insurance liability ceases from the moment of such transfer.

2. Insurance cost: the cost of the service is 1% of the declared value of the cargo. Payment is made before or at the time of handing over the cargo to us.

3. Insured events: insurance compensation is paid if during the period of our liability the cargo:

  • was lost;
  • sustained visible external damage.

For used goods, payment is made only in the event of significant damage (which is not merely cosmetic or aesthetic but also functional, preventing the use of the goods as intended) and in the event of total loss.

4. Amount of compensation: the amount of insurance compensation does not exceed the declared value of the cargo. Compensation for moral damage, lost profits and other indirect losses is not provided.

5. Payment terms: insurance compensation is paid within 14 working days from the moment the event is recognized as insured — in cash or to a bank account.

Limitations and Exclusions

Insurance coverage does not apply to:

  • food products, medicines, and other goods with a limited shelf life;
  • goods officially prohibited for international delivery;
  • containers, packaging, and packaging materials;
  • the operability of electronic devices and the correctness of their software (devices are not tested for functionality before shipment).

In the event of cargo confiscation by government authorities, the consideration of payment is suspended until a decision is made.

Force majeure circumstances that may release from the obligation to pay compensation: natural disasters, military actions, actions of state authorities, and other circumstances of insurmountable force.

Procedure for Applying for Compensation

To receive insurance compensation, you must:

  1. Record the damage at the moment of receiving the cargo — complete a report in the presence of our representative (if the shipment was delivered by our company’s own courier) or a third-party courier (if the shipment was delivered by an external postal service). In the event of a lost shipment, contact our representative (if the shipment was delivered by our company’s own courier) or a representative of the postal service (which made the final delivery to your address or to the post office you specified) to file a report of non-delivery.
  2. Keep the packaging — damaged packaging is evidence of an insured event.
  3. Submit a written or online application within 3 working days from the time the shipment is received, along with supporting photos and videos, or from the time its loss is documented.
  4. Provide documents confirming the value of the cargo (receipt, invoice, etc.).

Claims submitted after the established deadline may not be accepted for consideration.

Important to know: insurance for private customers is voluntary. The transport company TobiPaczka approaches the delivery of all cargo equally responsibly and always strives to resolve disputed situations. Freight transportation for business clients under an official contract is insured on individual terms.
